"EIPM MBA accredited by AMBA"

Who is AMBA ?
The vision of AMBA is to be the international authority on the development of business leaders. It is a vision that recognises the Association's strengths as the guardian of MBA quality standards. It provides a network for MBAs, business schools and employers, and also offers an important forum for the exchange of knowledge, ideas and best practice.

The AMBA accreditation is unique because it is independent and international in focus. The association assess the characteristics of an institution and its programmes against a set of criteria established by their International Accreditation Advisory Board (IAAB). The senior academics and corporate representatives who sit on the board, constantly monitor the accreditation criteria to reflect changes in business and management.

So, the EIPM MBA received the official accreditation by the Association of MBAs.
The AMBA Accreditation is based on the level of participants, the level of the professors, the content, the process, and the overall school organization.
Today there are 102 MBAs in the world that are accredited by AMBA (those of the most prestigious schools), and the EIPM MBA becomes number 103, but remains however the only MBA in the world specialized in "Purchasing and Supply Management".

This accreditation puts the Purchasing function within a company, at the same level as other strategic functions (administrative and financial management, marketing, etc…).
The EIPM has developed self-evaluation tools on line (bee resources) in order to allow the people concerned, to evaluate their knowledge and measure their performance with the idea of applying for an MBA (part-time/18 months) or other adapted trainings.

Amongst the "reference" clients of the EIPM MBA in Purchasing, is the Holcim Group, number 2 for cement, in the world, present in 70 countries. The Purchasing manager for Europe, Middle-east and Africa, Gérard BOS, will soon send a second colleague to do the EIPM MBA:

«there are many selection criteria, but it is first of all the value for money that seduces me, and then the fact that the normal degree course of this MBA has got a specialization in Purchasing, that the EIPM beneficiates from the expertise of specialized professors, that we are in constant contact with the director of the programme and also, very important, the fact that the companies we work with, are themselves, clients of the EIPM. This MBA really brings us what we exactly need for our Purchasing professionals in my unit (Europe ,Middle-East and Africa Management) » declares Gérard BOS.

We have asked Viviana IUHASZ from the European branch of SLBA (Sara Lee Branded Apparel, clothing),who is currently doing an MBA at the EIPM, to give us her thoughts …

Q.1: Why did you choose an MBA specialized in Purchasing?

I have always wanted to do an MBA since I was at University, in order to pursue a Business career, be part of a multinational company and to be promoted to higher functions.
I decided on Purchasing because in January 2002, I started working in that field. It is my speciality as I did a Major in International Trade (Negociations).

Q.2: What do you expect of this MBA? Will it bring you more for your current career or will it open new horizons for the future?

I think definitely both… It will of course bring me a lot more for my career as I want to get to higher functions (you need it in a multinational company), but it will also open new horizons for me: it puts me at different levels of understanding and perceptions of things. This is why I liked the EIPM approach.

Q.3: Why did you choose the EIPM for your MBA and how did you find informations on the EIPM?
I studied many options before deciding on the EIPM, because at the time, it was the most suitable for me (regarding pricing, time and the approach). I liked the content of this MBA and that was the determining factor in my choice.
I found informations about the EIPM on the Internet, I then contacted them and I was sent more informations by mail and by post.

There will be an "Induction day-Special MBA" on Monday the 17th of October and it will be the perfect opportunity to meet MBA participants, members of the faculty, and the "EIPM admission staff" for MBA.
You can apply right now at: Véronique Pernin on vpernin@eipm.org.

This Accreditation gives a quality homogeneity to all the programmes accredited by AMBA. These are a reference in terms of training.

   The EIPM present in China

In order to respond to the strong demand of the "tailor-made" training in Asia, the EIPM has locally developped some possibility for training in Chinese and English in Shangaï and Beijing. The EIPM also starts a Certified Training Programme for Purchasing Managers (CAPC for Managers).

The "CAPC Manager" on site, open to Chinese Nationals and Expatriates, on the following dates: from the 12th to the 16th of October, from the 9th to the 13th of November, and from the 14th to the 18th of December. This programme will take place simultaneously in Beijing and Shangai, to satisfy international clients who are keen to attend a training and beneficiate from the EIPM expertise in Asia. Amongst others, Henkel, Jansen Pharmaceutica, Nokia and Roche, are participating to this first group.

EIPM was in Beijing on september 17th & 18th for the 14th international federation of purchasing and supply management world congress

Bernard GRACIA, Founder and President of the EIPM was invited as a speaker at this year's  IFPSM Congress in Beijing on the 17th and 18th of September. He talked on Outsourcing, the management and evaluation of suppliers, supplying strategies and the management of suppliers organizations. The IFPSM World Congress is the first conference that brings together senior practitioners and internationally-recognized experts, for an opportunity to exchange views, network, share best practices and learn ways to enhance the role and effectiveness of Purchasing and Supply in corporations and in the public sector.

The EIPM organised the first international purchasing workshop on electricity on the 23rd of September 2005

This unique event was the occasion for some of the best specialists in that subject, to come together. In total, more than 50 experts were present in order to exchange their knowledge, following the liberalization of the electricity market. (you will find more information on the following link)

All the  participants put  forward their  wish to see the EIPM carry on its action on the subject of "Energy Purchasing". Therefore, the EIPM is seriously thinking about developping a research  centre, a  benchmark (precise study under process)  and  trainings (best practices) within the next month. Based on the same format  than this 1st Purchasing Workshop on Electricity, the EIPM will soon announce the organization  for 2006, of a series  of  Topical  Workshops (your suggestions  are more  than  welcome)

New in purchasing at the EIPM : self assessment for the purchasing community

The Research Team at the EIPM has developped an on-line tool to evaluate the competences and skills in Purchasing.
The tool, called "Bee Resources", analyses the different activities realized by one person, aligned with these activities the tool will test the skills and competences that this person should have for such activities. The differences between the target skills and the individual skills will help in identifying training needs. This tool can analyze in a very short time (one week) hundreds of purchasing professionals on a worldwide basis, in order to define job referential and adapt organization. Two induction days for the Bee Resources are planned : Thursday the 27th of October, all day, and Wednesday the 30th of November in the afternoon, as a prelude to the Annual Conference.    The 10th annual conference: December the 1st & 2nd, 2005.

SUPPLIER  RELATIONSHIP  MANAGEMENT  or How  to  become an  attractive  customer to  your suppliers!

Presentations,  viewpoints and  debates  from three perspectives: Academicians, Practitioners and Consultants.
Today, supply chains are competing with supply chains, and given the strong integration of suppliers in that supply chain, their management becomes an imperative. Suppliers are not the same and can not be treated in the same way.

This would require changes in supply management

organizations, expertise, role and responsibilities. And the emergence of  the  Supplier Relationship Management &  Key Supplier  Management Role is a response to that.  At the  end of  September, 100 participants  from some of the largest companies in Europe, had already registered. The event will take place at the Convention Centre on the Business Park of  Archamps, France, where the EIPM campus is located (15 mins  drive  from  Geneva  International  Airport).
