Nowadays, most companies are focusing on short-term cost cutting practices. Yet purchasing’s long-term-concern, which is innovation, was skillfully tackled at the 8th Annual Conference to throw light into the crucial role it plays in business growth. The quality of the speakers’ presentations, including those of academics, practitioners and consultants, together with the audience’s interaction, led to an understanding of all innovation’s strategic. Although Purchasing has a foot in the innovation process, there is still a long way to go. This essential function to companies’ development should be organized differently. It requires future changes in its strategies, expertise, ways of working, and above all, purchasing entrepreneurship.
